Tardif Machining and Welding (TMW) is a third-generation family-owned business founded in 1947 in St. Agatha, Aroostook County, Maine. The company founder, Alverie Tardif began work in his blacksmith’s shop in the Montaine Platte settlement of St. Agatha. Alverie moved his family and business into Frenchville in 1961 to a location on US Rt 1 near where the company is now located. The company has grown significantly since that time.
TMW is a well-equipped, full-service machine and welding shop specializing in the rebuilding and production of heavy hydraulics and mechanical components for equipment used in forestry, agriculture, construction, and industrial processes. Now owned by son, Alvin Tardif and his grandson AJ, the proprietors are highly experienced machinists and welder/fabricators. AJ has the education and training in modern, computer numerical controlled machines. AJ began working in the family business after completing and internship at General Electric in Bangor, Maine.
In 2016 the company completed a major expansion and building modernization and now occupies a 10,000 sq. ft. facility just off US Rt.1. This allows us to bring large pieces of equipment into the facility for major repairs. TMW has a reputation for producing and rebuilding hydraulic cylinders and equipment components that exceed OEM standards and that outperform the same products available in the marketplace. Our approach to quality materials and workmanship helps enhance the sustainability of our customer’s businesses. This is especially important during the present inflationary period.
We serve all of northern Maine and the nearby Canadian Provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec. Depending on the type of product or service required by the customer we are willing to serve a much broader geographic area including all of the Northeast. Our long-term plans include expansion of our use of CNC equipment to increase production capacity and efficiency and better serve our customers.
